i'm still considering replacing some of my factory glass with lexan.(rear window and two side-quarter windows only).what is the reccomended thickness for a street/strip car? i want to avoid issues with buckling, wavy or wind-whipped movement of too-thin lexan.does anyone have digital pics of their lexan window install? are there any informative websites that explain installation procedures or have illustrated pics? where can i buy installation kits that have the hardware i need? thanks. p.s.,i'm thinking about spray painting the interior side of the lexan quarter windows black.will this cause a problem with local laws? all the other windows will be clear.thanks again.

I am running 1/8" lexan in my car ( all glass replaced ) Personally I dont think its thick enough for street/strip use. Maybe 3/16" min. ( if available ). I cut the lexan to size and then laid the glass on it and traced it onto the lexan then cut it with a saber saw. To mount it I started in the center, drilled a hole, some I tapped some were drilled larger for a nut and boltit depended on access. I used stainless flat head allens.
My 1/4 windows have been in there for 15 years or so. Back and front were done about 4 yrs. ago and started cracking from the fastner holes about 2 yrs. ago. This is a track only car so I think street use would be harder on it and it would probably crack sooner. I dont know of any tricks to keep that from happening. All the holes were chamfered.
As for painting the 1/4 windows, I think thats acceptable as long as you have both side veiw mirrors, but it would be best to check YOUR local laws first.
I can send you pics of what mine looks like with them. Doesnt show you anything about doing them though.
Personally for a street driven car I would leave the glass in it.
