If You remember My post the other day, I finally got to the track.:hurray:

first (http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184503) thread.

Four year's ago, I was given a 1976 Silverado with a busted 454, and fresh TH400. About the same time, I bought that Green piece of junk in My sig, and started in on rebuilding My youth.:D I'm glad to say with alot of help from all the People here on TC, I have at least made it down the 1320, without embarassing the great Name of the Chevelle, TC, or Myself.

My first run out, thought I was gonna pee Myself from sheer excitement, just as I rolled into the waterbox, a nova spit the tranny out of the car, at the far end. Probably a good thing, too. Gave Me time to collect Myself, and put together a decent run.

First run:
Blew the light, blew the tire's, lifted and stomped on it again, got it to hook, and just prayed that I made it too the other end. Somewhere in the midde of second gear, ......Life as I know it changed........Something about staring at My tach as it climbed toward's 6000, not worrying about anything being in My way except for the finish line. No cop's, no kid's on bike's, no other car's to watch out for, no road hazard's. (those are the reason's I've never felt it like this, just can't bring Myself to do it on the street) My right foot mashed to the floor, with no intention of letting up, and My heartracing to match the Tach.

Ran a 13.9 at 105 (13.9@105), and I immediatly headed for the staging lane's again. Go My nerve's calmed a bit, and got off a 13.2 at 106. I knew from the MPH, that I could get it in the 12's, if I could get it too hook. But the little drag radial's that I got, ain't going to hold up to the Motor I got. I went around again, and let some air out, and managed to get a 13.082 at 107.09. So close, yet so far away.;)

The rest of th night I spent just trying different launche's, and moved the timing once. Set it back 2*, cut My best light of the night, but lost MPH. Set it back, and just practiced for the rest of the night, and had some Hot dog's, and B.S.ing with the other TC member's that were there.

Anyhow, it was almost the best 13 second's of My life.;)

Now all I need is to sell the 16's, and DR's, to finance some real Slick's.

Dave,

Again, good stuff!!!! I saw ya doin' this :D more than once.....

Chris "mr 4 speed" is watchin' ya. Think FLINK is watchin' you too but a lot more closely. Should be an interesting match-up. I'd also like to see AHSOM with some traction, see what the ol' 454HO is about! I'm thinking again about puttin' BBC into the Elky......

Nice finally meetin' ya and that DS loop looks great!
Like I was tellin' that pesky kid, 'street' SBC A-Body cars get little attention...my low 15s/90mph just a sidebar to the BBC nite at the track. Ben did tell me, his 3-4 previous SBC Elkys ran 16 or high 15 so this was a plus.

my friend's gold 69 SS cut a 1.82 60 ft. with my old 235/60 BFG DR's and runs SSM bars. (w/3.07 gears)

Dave,get these and you'll never cut a 2.0 60 ft again:

Also, just noticed you are running a Performer too..goes to prove you don't need an RPM intake. 107+ MPH nice!!!

would 60' better if you drove around the burnout box water. don't drive through it.
the water hangs in the tire grooves & puddles under the tire @ the line.

Chris, thank's for the words of encouragement. And You have been one to help Me on alot of different front's. But, the link doesn't work. Is that the lowering bracket's?

Dan, thank's for the advice. I think I'll hang on to these tire's for abit. We're trying to head to a different track in August, and I'll try going around the waterbox. Might be kinda silly to dump a bunch of cash into some tire's that'll get used once, then put away for a year.

Thank's to all for the help, and advice, and encouragement.

Pretty cool video, I like the way he's yawning, and whistling, he wouldn't be doing that if he was at the wheel. Its pretty unnerving the first few times, it was 1969 for me in a dodge dart 340. My best then was 14.3 without positraction.

Good video:thumbsup:

I think you and I both should.

When I get in the 11.5 range then maybe I'll consider looking at other carbs.

Take the seats and glass back out. That ought to get you in the 12's. :D

I can't Flintstone that fast.:D

Several thing's to do before next time out,

Wire a switch in line to shut off the dual electric fan's, inevitably they would kick on right after the burnout. never needed it before now.

I'll be interested to jet down a little, to see what that might do. I'll be interested to see, but I think it's running pretty dang good the way it is.

Might just have to buy a few bearings, and pop the 3:73's in it for the August trip.;)

Chris,

Do the SSM bars make that much off a difference? I had them and took them off, now I am wondering.

My 60' was 2.076 on a 12.7 @ 108.12 - first night out. :)

What DR's are you using?

I run the MT ET's and get very little spin out of the hole now, provided I get a good burn out.

My 60's are anywhere from a 1.79 to a 1.85 consistently, before I went to these tires my 60 was above a 2.0.

My best to date is a 12.98 @ 103 and let off early, I was on a 13.01 dial and knew I was going to break out. Thank goodness the guy in the other lane broke out more than I did.
