is the rear wheel on a 72 El Camino supposed to be centered in the wheel opening? I sandblasted and painted the frame/upper and lower control arms and reassembled the same parts on the same frame except for new bushings. Now the wheel seems to be setting quite more forward than I remembered.
Also I did not tighten the bolts until the body was back on the frame and the wheels were on the ground so I would not preload the suspenion. Is this normal or what did I screw up?
Thanks Bill

I just went into the garage and measured mine with a tape measure. These are not exact but from the front of the wheel well to the center of the wheel was approx 15 1/2" from the rear of the wheel well to the center of the wheel was 17" (measured from the very bottom of the wheel well opening)
I hope that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just measured mind and it is 14 1/2 in the front and 18 in the rear. The spring perch on the axel looks to directly under the spring pocket on the frame. The lower control determines how far the axel housing goes back and there is only one way they will go in. It isn't right and I can't see what is wrong.

I would think if it is too far forward you would have a real hard time getting the driveshaft in

To Depley
I bought a rolling frame, had to have adriveshaft made. Now it looks like I was alittle premature
