Well for those of you who were watching my previous post on the car nosing over at 5500 rpm, here's an uneventful update. Car ran a best of 13.95 at 97.8, air temp about the same as last outing 70-75 degrees. I added a 1 in. 4 hole tapered spacer, MSD 6AL (HEI crapped out), and Super 40 Flowmasters. Car pulls all the way to 6000 rpms now, didn't go any further because of rev limiter at 6000. The thing is, nothing improved over the last outing. Same times & mph. Started out w/ 70/73 jets (14.09 at 97.2), yellow spring, and ended up at 69/71 (13.95 at 97.8), same spring. Car did hit 98.05 mph on a 14.03 once. car launches hard and sounded much better and did not pop or anything at pull down at end of track. Plugs read very light tan to almost white, so I can't get much leaner, such an odd jet combo though? Should I have gone bigger on the sec. side? traction is a problem w 2.09 60 ft, 8.92 1/8th. Anyhow, my fuel cell is on back order from Jegs for a month, and I plan on running 1/2" line to pump, after that I'm out of upgrades, none of this is useless though as I plan on redoing the motor in the future, right now, I would like to try a different camshaft, Preferably a Lunati solid, any suggestions? car combo is 355, Perf. RPM, 750 Vac sec., Jegs heads 197cc/64cc/ compression is at 9.5 to 1. th350 w/ 3000 convertor. 3.36 gears and lockright locker. I will probably be going to flatops over the winter to get compression over 10 to 1. Sorry for rambling on, opinions please!

Brad, I've been playin with a couple of 305's and am getting ready to build a 355 myself. My gut reaction is that your car needs more gear/converter to ET like you want especially if car weight is over 3400 lbs. What camshaft are you running now ? Also, can you live with a 10" 3000 converter ? Your combo looks it will run real well, but it will need at least 3.73 or 3.90 gear & a converter to match the combo to do so. JMO though. Good luck. what cam are you running now? My son is using the xe274H and has a run a best of 13.50 w/ a 1.94 60ft in his truck and 3.73 gears. His is a 355,flattops w/4 valve reliefs, and vortecs. He's hoping to best that as he is dropping the same engine into a 82 Cutlass, maybe better traction than a truck and definately more aerodynamic. He ran his best back in the spring, since then he's been stuck in the 13.80's.

I averaged out all the runs from the last outing and this outing and this is what it shows -

Each date had 5 runs to average
7-2-04 - 14.15 @ 96.1 mph 9.06 1/8th 2.12 60 ft.
8-6-04 - 14.00 @ 97.6 mph 9.03 1/8th 2.16 60 ft.

so there is an increase in the right direction, not too much, but one small step....

driver definatly needs more practice!
