Is there a formula to do this? Why does Comp Cams use this method of measuring. I'm looking at a 300 intake and 306 exhaust duration @ .006". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tony A. graemlins/clonk.gif

Why would you want to do that. .006/.004 is for hydraulic cams and .020" is often used for solid cams. They are very different animals and you cannot compare them directly by converting the hyd cam to solid cam specs. If you want to compare solids with hyds, look at the .050 numbers. A solid with 8º more at .050 is roughtly equivalent a given hyd cam.

The .006/.004 is the way hyd are measured. Actually .004" is more accurate. It is SAE's value for allowing for valvetrain compressiblity. Solid should be, but rarely are, measured using the formula "Lash/Rocker Ratio+.004".

Right you are Pat! I was looking at a solid roller firstly and am now leaning to a hyd. roller. Thanks for setting me straight. :D
