i bought a set of Pro-Lighting aluminum heads a while back and then bought a pair of FlowTec Afterburner ceramic coated headers , problem I have is the header gaskets do not fit my heads , the ports on the heads are more or less square and header ports are round, I have tryed serveral times to get pro-Topline to ancer my question as to what headers and gaskets work best, but they wont respond. I feel like throwing these heads through their company window,,ZERO support from Pro-Topline , does anyone out there use these heads and what headers and gaskets did you use? Thanks !

it took me a year to get any response from them about my junk ass heads. which heads do you have? i had the 220cc alum lightnings and the exhaust ports worked with regular headers and gaskets. not sure why your exhaust ports would be squared.
here's the guy that FINALLY took the time to help me out......Jeff Gardner 248-969-1428.
he's a pretty good guy, just works for a lousy company. they were in the process of being taken over by another company, so hopefully for your sake, Jeff is still around.

MY 4000mile cast heads are cracked, and they have square exhaust ports too. Was a bit tricky to seal the 1 5/8 hedmans to it but I used some Nitroseal gaskets from napa and it seems to do the trick.

We run some 200cc aluminum P/T heads on a 327 and they are great. 1-5/8" Hookers fit the heads fine, but had trouble with plug access. Switched to Hedman 1-3/4" tubes and they fit great.

Fit and finish was very good on the set we bought. I have heard though that there is some inconsistency with their quality --- some good, some bad. I'd always buy the P/T heads bare over the counter (or pick up at will-call) just so I can look them over before making the deal.

My 200cc iron pro-toplines have a large square exhaust port also. I had to use a set of 1 3/4" headers because regular 1 5/8's had less than 1/16" of gasket contact at the edges. I would have been replacing header gaskets all the time.

And yes, these heads pretty much sucked right out of the box. Once I got all the bugs worked out of them they make good power, but the casting quality was worse than anything I have ever seen in my life. This was definately my 1st and last set.

If your talking BBC heads, Felpro makes a round port exh gasket too. Think it was for factory Al. heads. I can't remember the p/n, but I can get it if you can't find it. Since you can navigate a Cat parts book, I'd assume you could.

Your headers are the problem. Most are sq port.
Call/write Flotech.

John,
First of all, as far as I know Pro Topline is out of business, at least for now, so I doubt you will get an answer. Now on to the problem ... almost all small block ports are more square than round. You can use a gasket that matches your headers but just make sure they seal up in the "corners" of the ports. Or use a gasket that matches the port and also make sure it seals up in the corners. If the headers will not seal on hte ports, you might need to find a different manufacturer.
Hope this helps,

I just received my BBC 320cc Pro Topline aluminum heads the other day. I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the heads. For the money (I paid $1500 for the heads complete) and their advertised flow numbers they seem like a very good value. I don't see any problems with header primary fitting, but then again my header primaries are 2 1/8". Overall I'm very pleased with the quality of the heads that I received. There are a few rough spots in some of the ports that need "touched up" but that's to be expected with a head that has a port "as cast". The combustion chambers are pretty smooth to begin with, it looks as though some emery cloth will polish it right up.
