yesterday evening I cranked up after a trip to the convience store and my abs light came on. I also could hear and feel a wierd humming noise, sounded like an electric fuel pump. anyway I got home and turned the truck off and could still hear the hum. I got under the truck and found it was coming from the EHCU unit. I had to unhook the battery cable to turn off the unit. my chiltons repair manual doesnt give trouble shooting on this unit. It just says take to dealer. any tips/ideas on trouble shooting this. Thanks

I have a 2000, and I keep getting recall notices for corroded abs sensors maybe a sensor is not working correctly or corroded? I havent had it done yet - but havent experienced any issues so far.

My mother's '01 Suburban has an issue that sometimes the ABS & P-Brake light will both light up.

I haven't noticed any issue with the car when this happens, except that the ABS won't work.

I have the dreaded abs corroded sensor which gave me all kinds of issues (brake pedal lockkup, humming, etc.) For now I pulled the abs fuse until I can pull it apart on my 97 GMC.

The ebcm has a pump control relay internal.Non serviceable. The relay fails and supplys current to the pump motor. The ebcm can be replaced seperately from the hydraulic unit.It sits atop and is retained with torx head fasteners that just love to seize and strip.

2003 GMC 2500HD,front brake anti lock sensors, heav up and go bad,500$ paid yesterday should have pulled the relay.Take it to a gm garage and have them put on the diagonostic machine, they charge 1 hr labor 65$,but they will fix it right instead of guessing and spending more money than you have too!Plus if you have the problem again you can go back and bitch!

Steve..there is a recall addressing sensor air gap in northern states.Ask your local chevy store to run your VIN thru vis and see if your vehicle is included. The original post is a different issue. The air gap issue does not run the pump motor at all times.A shorted pump relay in the ebcm is the most likely cause. The sensor height will most likely show up at slow speed stops and cycle the solenoids for that wheel..like an abs controlled stop.

You could at least check the sensors for any debris built up. They are magnets so any metallic particles stick to them and can cause this problem. Usually from brake pads wearing out and getting worn down to metal to metal grinding. Metal shavings will stick to the sensors.
