: Chassis Black Aerosol = CRAP!!!
ss396boy Jul 11th, 07, 11:33 AM I won't ever buy this stuff again. Pay $13 a can for it and it don't spray out of the can. Nice.... From now on, no more crappy Eastwood Aerosol cans.
If I ever buy it from again, it will be in the quart contatiners that will be sprayed.
rex362 Jul 11th, 07, 11:58 AM Eastwood ...?? give em a call ....they fix problem ....
had a few issues with some products ..they sent out quick and fixed it ....
ss396boy Jul 11th, 07, 12:19 PM Problem is I bought this awhile back hoping I'd be able to work on the project. Instead, I was changing diapers for the past year.. hehheh
70_chevelle Jul 11th, 07, 12:43 PM Never had an issue and I do like the product....
ED1966SS Jul 11th, 07, 1:09 PM Eastwood replaced a missing part on a product I purchased 5 years prior that had sat on a shelf until I finally got around to using it and noticed the missing part. They may not be the cheapest, but they have the best customer service anywhere. I agree, give them a call or email.

Hey ed, thats great. If they replace free of charge, I'll be customer for life. And I'll delete this post!
Andy69 Jul 11th, 07, 4:32 PM I liked the Chassis black and underhood black. I bought quarts though.
I may use them again or just go with the Rustoleum Semi gloss black for the frame.
ss396boy Jul 11th, 07, 4:57 PM Seems pretty steep, $30 for a quart vs $10 for a quart of Rustoleum. I wonder if anyone has done some durability tests on them. GOtta think the Rustoleum would hold up. Might not have the same amount of solids, but for 1/3 of the price seems like a good choice for parts that don't get abused.

I think you can get it in quarts, too.
I painted my rear bumper brackets with the RO. They look good. It might be a good thing to perhaps try a hammer test or soemthing between Eastwood and Rustoleum?
BlueSS454 Jul 11th, 07, 5:47 PM That problem can happen with rattle cans when they sit that long and experience temperature changes from cold to hot. I like the Chassis black, but I won't bother with an aerosol can anymore simply for the fact that I use too much of it so getting a quart is cheaper in the long run anyways. I just thin it 20% and shoot it out of a cheap spray gun.
sweet64 Jul 11th, 07, 9:04 PM I used Eastwood Chasis black aerosol cans the other day and I was not happy...it is basically Gloss Black and not the satin I thought it would be, and it also took at least 24 hours for the parts to dry so i could handle them, and that was in 70 degree california weather!!

Andy ment to say he bought a 55 gallon drum of Chassis black to cover up his mistakes, LOL
I painted my frame with the #1974 Rustoleum Semi gloss black for the frame. In a quart size and it was like $7.50 here and goes a long ways 1 Qt will do your frame Iam happy with my end results. I dont know if Andy got to see my finished frame when he was here at my house or was that the beer Andy?:beers: I do remember my foot was still all messed up, LOL:yes:

67shovel Jul 12th, 07, 8:27 AM Set those spray cans in the sink and run hot water over then for a minute. It helps them spray better.
forcd ind Jul 12th, 07, 11:50 AM Its always better to give the business a chance to make things right before bad mouthing them-maybe not in your case, but sometimes its not the co's fault, but the user

busterwivell Jul 12th, 07, 6:38 PM I've used lots of their stuff. I've always found it to be good. It's not cheap, it's good. I'd use cheap if I was building cheap cars, I guess........but I don't build cheap cars. If you are having a problem with them, tell them first and give them a chance.
Like I tell my customers, if you aren't happy, tell me. If you are happy, tell everybody.
