What kind of PSI and GBH should I be looking for. This is for the big block. I was looking at Holleys, and second choices were Carter pumps. Most of you probably have my setup memorized by now graemlins/beers.gif eh... I do know I definately want mechanical. A Carter M6901

Or the HLY-12-835 which is for mildly altered engines, probably me... better price too

Carter 120gph mechanical ought to work fine.

Personally, I don't know why folks hate electric fuel pumps so much.
I guess mech pumps will pump enough fuel, I just don't know how they can do that in a drag strip situation whan the acceleration moves the fuel in the wrong direction.
Pushing is better than sucking.......
But if you never go to the strip, I guess it don't matter.

Hey Ron...I've got both on my car,I drive on the street with the mechanical,flip a switch to the Comp140 when at the track. I don't trust having just one fuel pump(electric) on the car when I drive it on the street.

Ditto what Rapid said. I have had both. I rely on the Carters (both on BBC and SBC) for street duty reliability. Never a hiccup or leak.

You fellas with both on your cars. Are they plumbed in line?

street pump 120gph - 6psi
strip pump 120gph - 7.5-8psi

what is the possible disadvantage of running extra pressure???
