Hello, i have a question about the dist. in my 396 it has the ring around the base with part # 1111109 and a date code of 5-k-25. would it be impossible for it to be original to a car with a build date of 06b. my car is a 66 thanks

Distributor date code is October 25, 1965. Impossible, no. Improbable, yes. Can't imagine a distributor getting 'lost' for 8 months for a base 396/325 engine.

Does the distributor have the correct grove in the cast housing just above the drive gear? If not it might not even be a correct distributor, just one with the tag switched.

Most important thing to know when checking a Distributer vs. car is not build date of car, but Production date of engine off the pad. This is when it is installed, so this is a more relavant date. There have been many confirmed cases of a long lead time of parts vs. a car or engine. Is it more common to be closer? Yes, but I have seen a lot of cases of stuff that has no explaination. These dates were not used to rotate stock. Only used for a early form of quality control.
