can anyone suggest a cam combo kit for a 325hp 396. the engine code is ET (67,68 chevelle 396) it's in a 70 el camino. i want much more hp and a cam that sounds real aggressive. far as i know the engine is stock except for an edelbrock intake and 800 holley double pumper. also looking to replace the headers with quality ceramic ones. i was thinking of thorley's but they are a bit pricy. also would a 2400 stall converter be good for the th400.
thanks, pat

Pat,Dynomax makes a nice pair of coated headers for a BBC..about $225 or so..check over at Summit's website.
A mild 396 can certainly benefit from a 2400 stall convertor.
Unless you plan on changing valvesprings, stick with a cam that has no more than .515 lift.

Imho, a good old CC 280 Magnum hy-cam will put you up close to 400hp in your pretty much stock motor along with headers. But do change springs..

It must be a real sweetheart with an 800DP on a stock 325 horse motor. I bet it would run better the the sec. disconected. Definately change the cam something that will allow about 6000 as a max RPM and it will run just fine.
