I have a 1971 Chevelle with factory air. It was working fine earlier this year, then I had a battery die and while charging the battery the relay under the dash (part #399603) started clicking. After that the AC would not work. I purchased a new relay and when I replaced it the relay started clicking. So I have a few questions:

- Is there any way I can test the relay?
- Where does the power to that relay originate?
- Is there any way I can remove the relays and get the AC to work (both relays 3996203 and 3996204)?
- Is there something else I can test?

Note: When I jump the Pink wire to the Blue wire the compressor turns on and the AC runs fine but is not controlled by the AC/Heater controls.

Thank you for your help,

Joe

I figured out how to wire around the relays, actually the Blocking Relay. I used power from the Tan wire which gets power when the AC is switched on and ran it to the Light Blue wire which goes to the Thermal Switch and then onto the compressor.

The only concern that I have is the tan wire only gets about 12 volts when the car is on vs the normal 14, does anyone think that will be an issue?
