I'm planing on putting a new Aluminized exhaust system on my 66 with stock manifolds. I'm looking for an aggressive mellow sound, ultimate would be great deep sound at idle and a real nice sounding rubble through all the gears (sweet even rubble) not looking for an obnoxious or deafening sound just want people to know a nice Muscle cars coming before they see it, and know when it's left. Who's been happy with what? Any idea's besides Gardners where to buy a good system. I replaced Dynomax with Flowmasters! No regrets and much better "musce car" sound. IMHO

Good luck. I went the other way to UltraFlows. Very happy with the results.

i have dynomax headers, custom made x pipes and flowmaster mufflers. i have to say the one thing i get complements on, by far, more than anything else, is the way my elky sounds. not everyone likes el caminos and i can appreciate that but when i pull into a parking lot and someone walks over they almost always say, "my Gawd that thing sounds awesome!".

I have flowmaster series 40's. Sounds real nice. Just what your looking for.

To me its hard to beat the sound of a Flowmaster!
Ive never ran the Dynomax, but ive had Flowmasters on my vehicles, and love them! I had a Chevy Silverado with Hooker Aerochambers on it, and they sounded awesome too! :D

Which dynomax ultras sound the best? oval, round, or bulletts? and will any of these fit with ladder bars with the mufflers in the stock location?

I don't know about fit but I have the welded ovals and you can hear yourself think. I've not heard the rounds but the bullets are about like open headers. I've seen guys sent home from the drag strip that had them. Bullets are louder than 2 chamber Flows.

I heard '70 with a rumbly 454 running a 3" system into Dynomax Utra-Flows. It was definately the sweetest sounding exhaust I've ever heard. But it is not quite by any means.

The flowmaster sound does not even come close to it, even though it does sound great itself.
