i have a stock 396 engine with a th350 tranny, 2500 stall, i think 3.73 gears (no posi) and as far as heads, cam, etc goes its all stock. how can you get a car to launch off cause mine tends to lag a little when i step on it.

How's your timing set up? Tuning the distributor may help seat of the pants performance. What kind of carb do you have?

Timing can definitely be part of it. Once that's set, try giving the car a little more gas from off-idle. On a Holley, you do that primarily by increasing the shooter size - go up 2-3 numbers at a time.

i have the original rochester qjet on it. i think its a 750. as for the timing, when im stopped at a light the car feels as if it wants to die but doesnt. that may be mostly due to the cam though.

sounds like either bad carb tuning or clogged fuel line to me
I once got some metal trash in my fuel line somehow (stuff was the size of a pinhead) that was clogging the fuel flow and making it die and bog
