Hi everyone. It's great to find a Chevelle lovers site such as this one.
I originally bought my 72 Chevelle in the winter of 72 for $2750 (still have the order form.) It was a 350 3-speed 2 bbl with SS instrument gauges, a FM mono radio (no stereo radio was available/offered), split vinyl front seats, and no power anything. It was fast & beautiful in Midnight Bronze (gold specks in pitch black brown paint.) And then it was taken away from me (see pix below.) I never forgot the joy I experienced in it. So 35 years later, I obtained another one. And I have to say, the smile it back on my face all the time when I'm behind the wheel again.

See posts #s 6,8,9,& 10 below to view my old & new '72 Chevelles.

Here's whats under the hood. Have any Long Island members ever seen this velle before? It belonged to a young guy in the Port Jefferson area of Suffolk county (2 owners ago) and the engine was worked on by P & G Motors of Port Jefferson.

If anyone knows anything about this car, let me know. The previous owner to me was pretty ignorant about the car. I'm thinking about driving over to P & G to see if they remember working on this engine & what they did to it. I gotta say, it has very good acceleration & pep and is smooth (TH350 )

How did the other one get wrecked?

I was broadsided by a dump truck which was hauling a trailer with a tractor on it! The guy tried to beat the light as I was slowly crossing the intersection.
(should've been driving faster.) After smacking into me, I bounced of of 2 cars waiting for the light to change, & stopped 2 inches from a telephone pole. Within 10 seconds, a cop ran over to my wreck expecting to see me dead. He was shocked when he turned around to see me peering over his shoulder while we were both looking into the car. He couldn't believe I was standing there and in 1 piece. Amazingly, my only injury was a half inch scratch on my knee. And all my worldly possessions, such as my stereo, record collections, clothes, etc, which were in the car, survived untouched. Amazing!

Wow  you were lucky!!...Did you have your seat belt on?

Extremely lucky! Lucky I had both large windows down and was wearing both my lap & shoulder belts. And lucky that I had no passenagers with me (my sister wanted to come with me on that ride and I luckily dissauded her that day.) The lowered driver window prevented me from smashing my head through it & the belts prevented me from being ejected from the car. I vividly remember the moments after the impact: first thing I realized was that I couldn't see out the window. Second thing was that the music had stopped.
Then I realized that the engine was seizing and that the right side door was right next to me and that the dash was somewhat wrapped around by legs! Tried to immediately open the door to get out (was afraid of fire/explosion), but couldn't get the door open (I locked it before starting up.) I was so afraid of blowing up, that I decided to perform the best swan dive of my life thru the window, to get the hell out of there. My heart was pumping like mad (man, that adrenalin was flowing.) After the policeman & some other drivers came by to help, I finally walked around to the passenger side of the car. Holy ****!
Now I knew why everyone thought I was crushed. This happened 35 years ago, but I still remember it as if it was yesterday. A surge of adrenalin will do that for you.

WOW !
Now right there is a good reason to use both seat belts, you would've probably sustained some serious injuries without the shoulder belt.
The man upstairs was watching over you AND your sister for sure.

I knew a guy years ago that had about the same thing happen when he was going to street race his 56 Ford that he had put a BIG Mercury Park Lane motor in. (460 as I recall)
He made his wife get out right before wrapping the right side around a light pole.
The car looked like a horse shoe and the engine was thrown completely out.

In that particular case he was probably lucky he didn't have seat belts because he was thrown out when the car went up over the curb and didn't get hurt.

I put a 70 SS through a telephone pole one night falling asleep at the wheel. The 4-speed was pushed up through the tranny tunnel and the driverside frame horn was at the firewall. The steering wheel was broken, the hood was also at the windshield looking like an accordian...That's accordian not Acadian...:D...and the driverside front tire and rim were in the driverside door. I don't no how but I also walked away with only a bump on my knee and a bruised forehead. Thank goodness for full framed cars..... and someone looking out for me.

About two months later my cousin died in a similar accident and his vehicle didn't look half as bad as mine.

Nice car by the way:beers:

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I'm glad I'm still here to share the highs & lows of my life with Chevelles. I knew my old photos would perk some interest. I look forward to continued sharing of these experiences, hopefully
in a very positive & uplifting sort of way.
