Has anyone tried the Percys Dead Soft aluminum header gaskets? How about the anealed copper gaskets? I have a nasty leak on my SBC that wont go away.

Have heard mixed reviews on both. Try ROL new graphite gaskets.

If you can pull a header sometimes you can grind the flange flat again if its a little warped. My Hedmans are 3+ years old and they cleaned up nicely with a belt sander. The center ports needed a little touch up, but weren't really bad.

The Permatex High temp silicone (the orange stuff) can help seal up a stubborn leak prone spot too. I've had good luck with it around the collector area over the years.

If your exhaust system is restrictive it will be much harder to get them to seal up.

Personally, I've never used any of the high Dollar gaskets and frankly don't ever care to if I can avoid it.

I use the dead soft aluminum gaskets and never had a problem with them,I taken the headers loose a few times and just reuse them no leaks.

i had your same problem with cheap paper gaskets blowing out and/or scorching and decided to try the graphite impregnated gaskets from victor-reinz.(dana corporation).they have never leaked again after one re-torquing.as long as your header flanges are nice and flat on the mating surfaces you can't go wrong with most graphite style gaskets.the paper gaskets are a joke.

I've used the aluminum ones on the collector with success. I've also used the Earl's with the spiral wrapped graphite foil, they work a little better yet, if your collectors are bent from overtorquing and age. Earl's also makes them for the head side. I've been lucky with the head side gaskets I guess. Only time they blow out is when the bolts loosen up, so I use a lockwasher on them. You have to find one that is only as wide as the head of the bolt. I got mine at an industrial nut/bolt supplier we have over here. Buy a bag, keep them around for all your future cars.

I was curious as if anyone has ever used the Mr. Gasket Ultra seal collector gaskets? I'm in the process of changing mine and happen to have some on hand. One thing is for sure I hope they're better than the paper ones!

Anyone know if Mr Gasket Ultra seals are any good or not?

The Mr Gasket Ultra Seals are the ONLY gasket I use on headers!!

They are inexpensive and last nearly forever.
