Getting parts together to do an auto to muncie conversion. I need to choose a flywheel and clutch. Car is a '69 Malibu with 350 hp 350 cid, street car. Rear gear is 3.42. Several have told me to go with a "heavy" flywheel. OK I understand that. Here are my choices on flywheel:

1-original flywheel from a junkyard '69 307 (total about $75 with machining)
2-Daikin or similar cheap aftermarket ($100 or so)
3-New GM nodular iron ($250)

Clutch - I don't really know, but don't think I need anything hi performance. Any reason NOT to buy the $110 Exedy OEM clutch?

Thanks for any tricks or tips!

Dave.

Gm has your flywheel, 10 1/2 at about $178. I bought mine for my 454, 11 in. for that much from the dealer. Ground up has the AC delco clutch for your set up also

Don't buy the cheap after market unit. The starter will likely chew the teeth off of the ring gear. GM flywheel is a good choice. If the used unit has good teeth and hasn't been resurfaced too many times, it's a good choice. A lot of guys on this site like steel flywheels. Again, don't go cheap.

I am using a RAM stock type clutch/pressure plate. It works great.

How about a Hays Billet Flywheel?
