: Firewall pieces?

Before I bought the car it took some damage to the front that caused some issues on the firewall. It seems the damage was pulled out straight (ive measured the fenders and angles before tearing apart), but the damage is an eyesore.

Attached are two pictures of the damage (coated by a tar or something before I bought it), I want to replace these two parts. Do they sell them?

No, they don't reproduce those areas. However, any A-body will have that area. You can look for Cutlass, Skylarks, GSs, Tempests, etc..

Mine had that area damaged from being T-Boned. I cut off the original piece and hammer/dollyed it straight, and welded it back on.

I would try and remove the tar. A pressure washer with an extremely high PSI might work. You may consider soaking the tar in a chemical, like Oven Cleaner before you try and pressure wash it..

I started Sandblasting it off, taking some time, but is working and getting to the metal. I think Ill use some aircraft stripper and just let it soak in.

Would it be best to just get some flat stock and form it? Better then going to a junkyard and trying to cut the pieces off with a propane tourch

Check ss396.com, home of groundup. They DO carry the cowl sides as well as a firewall for some years.

Fast forward to page 4. $259 for the firewall which does not include the outer panels, but I can't tell exactly how far in yours is hosed. $44.95 per cowl side.

Now the body mounts are a different story!

I agree that is an eye sore, but once you hang a fender on it will take a narrow headed person to know that anything is wrong with it.

I guess I am just picky, would like to have it taken care of. Seems to not be too expensive (except I need a new welder..LOL)

Thank you for the pictures
