In the model years 1964-1970 all Chevelle models used 14 inch wheels in all applications except one. Which Chevelles in these years did not come from the factory with 14 inch wheels installed?

Z16?

Nope. The Z16 used unique wheels, but they too were 14 inchers.

That's a good one Rich, first thought was disc brake models but didn't have disc in 64. Got me stumped.

Yes that was available in a '69 Chevelle with COPO 427 and that's my answer too.

Bingo!

There were many optional wheels over the years, but most often the option up meant wider wheels and wider/taller tires. However, the '69 COPOs mostly came with 15 inch wheels. The factory shipped them with rally wheels though some got some kind of aftermarket wheel at the dealership level. I've heard that some early COPOs had 14 inch wheels but I'm not sure how accurate that info is. Of course starting with the 1971 model year, 15 inch wheels were part of the SS package (not sure what other 71-72 Chevelles got as a standard wheel).

Hopefully some of the COPO owners will chip in here but I'm pretty sure a '69 COPO 9562 427 package came std with the 14"x7" SS wheels but if you added the COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion package to that, it came with 15"x7" Rally wheels and a few other susp upgrades.

Ah, if that's the case, that would explain why some had 14s and some had 15s.

Bigger wheels often are used when larger brakes are mandated.

How about Tangier orange?

My employer had been buying copo's since I started working there in 1972, all come in orange. Got photo of my last one somewhere on my hd.

here is my last copo (F&SO) Back in the early 70's they had orange El Camino's for the supervisors to run around in.
