: comp cams recommended lifters or other?

i've picked a radical Comp Cams tight-lash solid for my street/strip smallblock stroker.i'm tempted to order those new Direct Lube solid lifters from Howards Cams.they have an oiling hole in the bottom that supplies oil to the cam lobe.they claim you can run higher spring pressures and profiles without lobe wear.i'm torn between using the lifters Comp advises with this cam(protecting warranty)and using the Direct Lube lifters that might keep my cam alive(voiding warranty) on the occasional street romps.the Comp lifters are twice as expensive as the Direct Lube lifters leading me to think they might be better quality but i really like the idea of having the oiling holes for my cam lobes that the cheaper lifters offer.what to do..what to do..?

So if you had someone EDM the oiling holes, would the Comp warranty be void????
I had Crower do it for me, but come to find out the race engine shop in our area also does this. About $3-4 a lifter.

Look into Isky. I believe they make some of those lifters. Mike (Wolfplace) Lewis said he has used them with good look. I think he can get you a set of Isky's for a decent price. graemlins/hurray.gif

I'm pretty sure they will not void your warranty. IIRC, the warranty states that new lifters must be used. I don't think they have to be Comp's brand, just new.

I just installed a set of the Isky oil bleed lifters in my 396 to go along with my new - pretty mild, Lunati/UD solid lifter cam. I've got about 4-5 hundred miles on the set and have not had any issues thus far.

Note, however, that the oil bleed lifters will drop your OP. In my engine, with a standard volumn oil pump, a higher pressure spring (Z/28 spring), and 10W30 OP at idle with engine hot is just over 25 lbs - perfectly acceptable. About 40 lbs at 3k, and 50 at 4k. Previously it idled with about 35 lbs hot.

Have Mike (Wolfplace) Lewis hook ya up with the Isky's at a decent price (or pert near anything else for that matter).

Guys, Several cam manufacturers offer a solid lifter with the EDM oil hole now. Crower was yhe first one that i saw advertise them.
