I have never run a high power auto and am putting together a 555 that I will hit with a bunch of spray (13-1500 hp total). We are going to externally balance the set up. Car is 2200 lb (complete) tube frame vette race car, with a glide. Looking for suggestions or reccomendations for a flex plate. Anything I should be aware of?

Thanks,
John

Is it common practice to externally balance a 1500HP BBC?

You mean the ordinary run-of-the-mill 1500 hp BBC or the race model with the aftermarket crank?

I think that any race engine should be internally balanced if you want it to stay in one piece.

thats kinda what I was thinking...I know for a SBC you wouldn't want an externally balanced crank for big HP or rpm

I used to use the cheapest SFI ones available - not anymore. I have two with "slots" where the converter holes are supposed to be after only a few hits. And yes, I tightened the hell out of them buggers and they were tight coming out.

I will try one of those solid, more expensive ones next time.
