My chevelle that I plan on painting is glacier blue, and I've read about spray sensitive metalics and their problems with color shift. I plan on painting the body, fenders, hood and doors on the same day, however in different batches. The body with doors, then the fenders, hood and front panel. Paint will be base clear ppg deltron. Will I have problems with color shift because of the sequence??

All I can comment on concerning the physics of color shift with metallics is that we always paint components in the position that they are on the car, ie trunk and hood laid flat, doors and front fenders hung up. I don't think your sequence will matter, we have done them days apart. On my only completely DIY paint I thought I would be smart hanging all of the parts mainly to keep trash out of the paint. It helped but I never could figure out why the hood and trunk looked a little different than the rest of the car until a real painter told me about it. It was a medium gray metallic.

There is a good chance of screwing up your paint job this way. Painted a 69 Camaro Marina Blue in pieces and when we put it togerther it looked like a checker board.
