So....here goes yesterday. My son is working on his other car, the Hi performance Silvia, and he gets a trip for surgery to his left eye for a chunk of metal stuck in his cornea. (not to mention the car is stuck in our driveway unfinished). I get so pissed off, I nail it in my car and hit a curb, blowing out a brand new $165.00 tire. Did I mention it does not like a dougnut spare too much? Now keep in mind I have been using his 69 Chevelle for 4 weeks while a shop in town has had my 68. Why do they have it? Because I could'nt do all the drive train work anymore because of a severe injury, not because I can't or don't want to. So, the shop is doing over EVERYTHING I had a local speed shop on the Island do over! Fixing the rear, tranny, and engine that I paid an enormous amount to be do 800 miles ago, and they refused to stand by their work! Last thing was they fixed the crankshaft, that the morons had stripped the balancer bolt on. So, I go to get the car after 5 weeks now. Dave tells me everything is done to perfection, but in a challange between a 2007 Chevy Avalanche verses a 68 Camaro, who wins? Yep, the Camaro lost. It never made it off the property. Everyone screaming at the top of their lungs at the guy in the Avalanche, but I guess his music was up too loud. So, I should get it back soon from my local body shop. He's paying cash for everything. (maybe I can get some torq thrust D's out of this...not likely). You know, this Island isn't that big, and people talk. My close friend is having his car redone elsewhere over again, and it was originally done at the same shop. Glad that day is over. PS, My son left with the Chevelle today, can't say I blame him. :sad:Rick

Word of mouth!!!

I was griping to my next door neighbor small town farmer/country Buddy the other day about how Shop's will sabatoge crap on you!!

(Like punch holes in my t/r and drive axle boots at Safety Inspection time as I watched him do it and it flat NEVER dawned on me what the A/H was doing 'til a month later when I changed oil).......................

And he gave me the name of a Shop that he know's is HONEST b/c he's used them for years and years!!

Gotta look into them!!

Sorry to hear about your rip off mechanic. I repair cars for a living and this type of guy drives me crazy. I'm an honest mechanic and a-oles like this give us all a bad name. Sorry about your bad experience.

Thanks for the sympathy guys, I needed it. Should get the car back Saturday, in time to cruise to the beach Sunday morning. I hope it's all done by then. Next time, I take some Demerol, go to physical therapy, and do it myself!! Rick
