Here's the numbers off of my heads: 3917215

Are these good heads for a BB 396 with a Comp Cams Magnum 280, Performer RPM Airgap, 10.1 forged pistons, and a 150hp shot of NO2? What type of valve work would help me to get the most performance out of my combination?

Thanks for any help.

Those are great closed chamber BBC heads. I know several guys are running them on here with good success. I am using them myself on my new 427. They are closed chamber though, are the pistons you have meant for closed chambers heads? The 215 heads chambers cc out to about 101 cc.

A lot of people including myself believe that the bigger valves can be an advantage on these heads. In your situation though i would say the stock valves are probably ok for you though considering the relatively small displacement of your motor. One thing to always consider with the closed chamber heads is to make sure the valves are unshrouded, but without bigger valves i think you will probably be ok. I personally went with the larger valves, but i am running a bigger motor and have a solid cam with a little higher range on it. It is ultimately up to you.

Some people like to have hardened exhaust seats installed for lots of street driving. I had them done personally once again, but you will find differing opinions on this...

as Daniel mentioned,#215 heads work well.
I have them myself with the stock valves.
If you stick with the stock 2.06/1.72 valves,a good valve job and a "dingle berry" clean up of the ports will be fine.If you have extra cash, stepping up to the 2.19/1.88's is a good move too.

stock valves with a very good three angle valve job with a 20 degree back cut on the valves and do some porting. even back yard porting does great. clean all casting flash in the runners, short turn radiuas, and bowl blending.

back to back test i did in 96 showed me on my car a .3 drop in e.t. and 4 mph gain.

took a stock set of closed chambered heads with very sunken valves....(it was a 3 angle valve job not very good but it was) 2.06/1.72 valve size. took the heads off the engine the same day i race a 13.90 at 99 mph ....by the next weekend i had the same heads back on the motor with my porting done to them (i believe it was my 3rd set i have ever done ) everything set the same ....(i didnt have no machine work done at all i was real careful around my seats...i did run pass a few of them but not enough i felt it was going to hurt anything) and the car ran a 13.60 at 103+ in the 1/4 right of the bat so i knew what i did helped.
