Here they forgot to tell someone that its Dec. It was 75 today tongue.gif and the local 1/8 mile track was packed. Got there about 2:00 but the track was oiled down. Finally got to run my first pass 3:30. I made a total of 4 passes two of which beat my previous bests.

I still manually shift on the column and I keep stifting to second late and bumping my rev limiter. The one pass that my shift point was right made the best pass ever. I am still stunned such a mild street car combo is running so well. Its never been in the 1/4 but with these numbers I think should it tip into the 11's if I ever get on a 1/4. What do you all think?

1. 1.70 60ft 7.79 @88.34
2. 1.68 60ft 7.80 @88.15
3. 1.67 60ft 7.66 @89.25 (new personal record smile.gif )
4. 1.66 60ft 7.70 @89.13

Here are a couple of shots from yesterday.

You get yours painted yet? I have been so busy with work that I not been keeping up to date around here much.

What's your user name over at Malibu Racing? I've seen the car before, there, but can't place the name.

I just dropped the Bu off at the chassis shop. They're doing a ten point cage, and fabbing up a rear crossmember right at the location the left rear body mount sits. The new crossmember will also be the body mount bushing perch, as well. Can't wait to get it back!!

Keep up the good work!

glad to see you have it running that well. i think with a 7.60 the et is good enough to get you into the 11.90's but the mph seems a tad low to reach the 11's, but it'd be close. a buddy with a similar combo 383 was running 7.63@91mph with only a 1.74 60 ft time and his ran an 11.91 in the 1/4mi @112mph.
i'd like to see you be able to try some 1 3/4" headers and 3" exhaust back to the mufflers, but as good as your's runs now, i'd be afraid to mess with it.

I am afraid to mess with it :D Everytime I go out I tell myself I will start tweeking with it but with shift point changes and tire pressure changes I get to go a little quicker.

I have both a Vic Jr and a set of used 1.75" Hooker SC I got a while back that I want to try.
As for exhaust do you really think 3" could help? Dr gas hold me anything under 500 HP I should stick with 2.5" Plus I love how quiet it is.

I love sitting in the staging lanes with it before I make my first pass. No one gives it a second look. Theres penty of faster stuff out there but mine gets a lot of attention after it's first pass. Can't tell you how any times people start looking for nitrous lines. :D

Hi Richard, A 7.66 @ 89 MPH should work out to about 11.96 and 111 MPH on a full quarter. The 7.7 is about a 12 flat quarter and to Rapid Robert would that be Denton? I think that Wolfplace said the appx. conversion factors for 1/8 to 1/4 mile times are .64 for E.T. and .80 for speed which works out pretty close.

thus the "or so...", plus I didn't know on what side of Dallas the track was located .... graemlins/clonk.gif Put Mr. 4speeds old 2.56's in my car and I could make it! :D

Anyway, I like your car and the times your running! keep it up! (or is it down?) graemlins/thumbsup.gif

well Dr Gas should know alot more about it than me. i think you're borderline, just like i am. i've never run an "X" pipe or anything like that so maybe you'd be better off leaving the exhaust alone. i know from experience that similar combos have picked up considerably from 2 1/2" exhaust to open headers, but none were equiped with any kind of x or h pipe. my buddys car ran about the same with 3" exhaust as it did with open headers, although there was alot more "tuning in" done with the exhaust on it. something to consider about the S/C's is that on a Chevelle the S/C's don't fit very well unless you have angle plug heads, not sure about the malibus though. if you do change headers or exhaust or run it open headers, i'd like to know the results.

It would supprise me if I picked up much if any with open exhaust. The 2.5" mandrel system with X pipe seems to run so much better than the old system with no crossover and dumped in front of the rear.

Its funny this is a temporary motor I built to drive on Power Tour while saving money to build a nasty 406 in 2001. Well its almost 2005 and its still in there and I still don't have all the parts for my 406. Originally I wanted to make it go 7.99 then spray it but now I keep wanting to go faster on the motor. I will spray it after it goes 7.49 :D
