I bought all the parts to my car except the heads, so I sent AFR a email for their recommendation. I was planning on using the AFR-195 for my street engine but here is what they had to say:
Dear David,
The 210cc heads will be the best choice for your combination. The heads will be fully cnc and will flow 285cfm intake and 220cfm exhaust. The heads will have a spring that will handle a solid roller good to .670 lift. The heads will come in a 76cc or 66cc chambers. The heads will start at $1450 complete ready to bolt on. and $739 for a bear as cast head with just seats and guides only. these heads are not finished and will require alot of work. We are about 6-8 wks for delivery.Thank you for your interest in our cylinder heads. Please feel free to call with any questions that you may have.818-890-0616.
Sincerely,
Marc

check on the upgrades, heres where i made my mistake. if you use, or ever decide to use 1.6 you will be at the limits of the regular stock valves and springs as they are only good to .550 lift. they will upgrade the valves and springs for about 200$ and good to .600 lift. the springs are rated at 130# seat 350# open. these are +.050 longer. if i had to do it all over again i would have got the +.100 valves and springs so i could go to a large solid roller. as far as the 210s, i guess it really depends on what your goals are for the car, and i cant help there. I would definetly go with the bigger heads, they have such great flow numbers so you know the velocity is going to be decent. I have learned that it is usually your cam that will limit the rpm of your engine, I know people who use the 195's on mild 350's! I think your 400 sounds liket its on the high end side. SO the 210's should work great! Plus they will leave you room to grow.

Either head would work well for you. IMO the 210s will make more top end and the 195s will be stronger in the lower rpm ranges. Around town the 195s will be more responsive but when you are really on it the 210s will win out. I like my 190 AFRs but my motor is more of a cruser. If you look at an oval port 396 its got more head(at least volume wise than a 195 small block head). In the 408 small block vs. 408 big block comparo, the small block used a 200cc head and was stronger untill about 3800rpm then the big block pulled away from it.

Just call me Mr. Spelling Bee. Baer head castings are actually bare castings. Wont is actually want. Bisines is actually business. No problem. Tonight I delivered my monthly church minutes {I'm the secretary}, and I wanted to note that the tiles were getting loose under the piano. So I wrote 'needs tilling under the piano', and--well--all the boys were trying to figure out how to get a garden tiller under the piano, lol!
