It was one of those everything turns to crap jobs. The first steering box we installed was sitting for a few years and was stuck and needed to be freed up. After it was installed the steering wheel had a mind of it's own. The wheel would crank all the way to the right then the left and get stuck.
The single non power steering pulleys had to be changed and the new lower pulley was not lining up with the top one. I found a deeper lower pulley then it rubbed on the top pulley. My water pump was a 68 and the new smaller double pulley rubbed on the water pump housing. I replaced the water pump with a 71 I had on the shelf that prooved to be a leaker.
The pitman arm story is another long sad story. But to make a long story short I found a steering box with less than 3 turns lock to lock and it is installed and it works great. I LOVE POWER STEERING.:hurray:
