I'm moving and don't have time to make two trips to drive my Chevelle to Montana (900 miles). I need to find a car trailer in Oregon, does anyone know of a good dealer in the Portland, Salem or Eugene area?
Is a 16ft a good choice or should I go with a 18ft. What is a good brand? Is a dove tail a good idea?
I plan on using it for hauling also by adding wooden sides.

I have a 16ft, open, flat trailer that I ocassionally use to haul the 56 Vette and 70 conv------------------and misc other stuff. It is not a dovetail trailer, but a dove tail would certainly be nice to have!!!!!
With the ramps which came with the trailer, I can even drive the 56 Vette onto it with ZERO clearance problems. Also, with the trailer hitched to the tow vehicle, I crank the jack on the front of the trailer to lift up the front of the trailer which makes drive-on clearance even better.
Mine came with 2 stake holes (just right for a 2x4) on each side and about 12yrs ago I made wood side boards from 4x8 plywood and 2x4s. I built the the side boards so that it could all be bolted together for simple installation and removal. I don't know how much I spent on wood-bolts-nuts, but after I used the trailer with the side boards, I removed them and haven't used them since! Fortunately I have the side boards stored inside a building so that the weather won't ruin the plywood.
I originally bought the trailer just to have a decent trailer for whatever purpose. It came with lights, one spare wheel and brakes on one axle (you NEED trailer brakes if hauling a car!!!!!!!!!). Also, it has a wood floor---------------which I have already replaced with treated wood that is holding up better than the original UNtreated wood. Mine is steel and an alum trailer would certainly be much lighter------------but also more expensive.

I hauled my El Camino home on my 18' flatbed. I wouldn't have wanted a shorter one. A dovetail would be nice and at least brakes on one axle!!!!!

There are lots of dealers in these area's. I have a 16 foot car trailer that I bought to haul ATV's, but now use it for the car. If I had the car first I would have purchased a 18 foot. Axles weight capacity is something to look at also. Some trailers axles are for light hauling and some only have brakes on one set of axles and some have them on both. Try 99 west or east trailers 503.308.4247 Milwaukie, or 503.342.8301 Newberg area. Check out the options you are looking for first.

I agree with them on the 18ft. I have an 18' dove tail with brakes. The dove tail is NICE but the brakes are a must have. It's a lot easier to stop 11,000 lbs (truck, car, and trailer) with an extra set of brakes.

18 foot with dove tail and both axle brakes the only way to go. and don't go cheap on a brake controller
