: Redline MT Drag Radials/Steelies on my '69
D Stroud Jun 27th, 07, 11:10 PM Finally got the Redlines mounted and they do look killer!
I havn't got to clean the car up yet (or glaze it for that matter) but I had to get a pic of em anyways.
Wheel Vintiques Series 62 15" x 8" steelies with Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials 255/60/15 on the rear and Yokohoma 235/60/15 on the front. All with the Redline treatment from Diamond Back.
I'm not sure yet, but I think I like em better without the caps.

bdc1013 Jun 28th, 07, 12:37 AM wow those look awesome. I also love the tread pattern of those MT's. You need a side pic of the rims with the caps on them. Then ill let you know what i think, i cant get a good enough look at the cap to make a decision. looks great though!
D Stroud Jun 28th, 07, 8:04 AM It was raining outside so I had to take the pics in the garage. I'll try to get her outside for more pics soon.
67pete300 Jun 28th, 07, 3:23 PM Wow, they look great! I am picking up my wheels (same series 62 steelies) with Diamondback redlines mounted tonight. Will have pictures soon!
Nicks406 Jun 28th, 07, 3:32 PM needs 67 disc brake caps or regular Rallye caps.
502ci Jun 28th, 07, 6:03 PM I like the relined Mickey Sticky's...

I have thought seriously about putting the Redlines on a set of 8" Ralleys that I have.
But, I'm shooting for a COPO look. Which in reality, the COPO Chevelles never came with the steelies but rather the Ralleys or SS wheels.
I may swap the wheels yet. Or at least give the new owner the option if they want the Ralleys or the Steelies when she goes up for sale.
Grumpy 427 Jun 29th, 07, 11:39 AM I like the steel wheel copo hubcap look. Too bad MT made such an ugly looking tread on those tires. Great looking car though. i had thought i saw a post here where there were a couple of real copo chevelle's with the steelies and hub caps?
gearheads78 Jun 29th, 07, 12:43 PM Looks great. I would leave the caps off altogether it is was mine.
L78-fan Jun 29th, 07, 4:47 PM any idea what the backspacing is on yhe rears. i want to put 15x8 on the rear of my 69. those look killer!!!!!!
00WS6TA Jun 30th, 07, 1:13 PM Looking good D!
ratuned Jun 30th, 07, 1:26 PM that looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! not to be nosey, how muck $ did they run you? i would love to have 275 on the rear with redlines on torque thrust D's. they simply look awesome. mike
bdc1013 Jul 1st, 07, 4:52 PM have you taken more pics yet?
D Stroud Jul 2nd, 07, 9:58 AM No additional pics yet. I've been out of town for a little while.
I'll try to get better pics this evening.
And, as far as cost, The tires alone were $956 (the MTs with the redlines were $256 each - ouch) and the wheels from summit were right at $75.00 each.
A little more money than I wanted to spend, but I think they look killer!!
Nicks406 Jul 2nd, 07, 12:03 PM Swap wheels when you sell it?!?!? gasp! I think it looks very good in nits own right and amazing how wheels/tires can change the whole look of a car. Slick any way you cut it!
D Stroud Jul 2nd, 07, 12:49 PM Thanks fellows!
Judging from the numerous post in this section, It looks like the Redlines are definately making a serious comeback.
I promise to get some better pics of mine outside as soon as I can.
BTW, I got some original dog dish caps now, which I think look better than those on there now from wheel vintiques.
I'll see what you guys think when I get some fresh pics.
I've always thought that Redlines on a set of 17/18s or 18/19s would also look smokin!
GotSpray Jul 8th, 07, 10:33 AM wow they look killer!
mr 4 speed Jul 8th, 07, 10:51 AM very cool!!
Motorhead62 Jul 8th, 07, 6:50 PM Your Chevelle looks awesome!
You mounted your tires backwards!!!!! Those Mickey's need to be swapped from side to side as they are directional!
droptop396 Jul 8th, 07, 7:30 PM Definately want to see more pics from the side to see the whole car.
Looks great though from what I can see.
D Stroud Jul 9th, 07, 4:15 PM Your Chevelle looks awesome!

Not according to the directional arrow on the tires.
Anybody else notice this? Are they backwards?. If so, they have the directional arrow pointed the wrong way. (on both tires)
Motorhead62 Jul 9th, 07, 11:08 PM I checked my tires again and looked at pics of my car and your tires are okay. Sorry I said anything that might have scared you.

No problem :D I was just thinking...as much as those tires cost, they better be perfect!
Klamath Jul 18th, 07, 12:41 PM How good of job does Diamondback do of eliminating the original raised letters, etc?
Could you post a close-up of the sidewall?

They do an awesome job. This is my favorite part about these tires. They completely smooth the sidewall while adding the stripe. I saw a set of new redlines from somebody else and they still had all the lettering and looked terrible.
