I have done a search and just need verification before I go dismantling the front brakes.
I have a 65 with power drums. I am doing a disc swap but found out we can put C5 brakes on so I want to go this route.
Question is my current hubs just need the diameter machined down to 5.95in? So C5 have a 5x4.75in bolt pattern? Also do I need a special master cylinder or would a basic disc brake master work?
I am only doing a front conversion but do I still have to machine the spindle to fit the C5 brackets. (sure i do just verifying my info)
Thanks guys

yes the c5 rotors are 5x4.75. Whether the spindle needs machined depends on the spindle and the bracket used. 17 inch plus wheels are required if you didn't already know. http://www.kore3.com/proddetail.php?prod=10083-01 kore3 has a templet because the c5 set up does not work with all 17 inch wheel.

I have done this swap before... Pretty easy, as long as you get brackets from someone that will bolt directly to your spindles...
Several companies out there... I'd recommend either Engineered Velocity (Joe "72SSAbody" is on this site alot) or Kore3... I actually installed the Kore3 set on my Chevelle last year (before I knew Joe was working on these). It was a complete bolt-on, EXCEPT for modifying the brake lines for the master and proportioning valve (I just used a Summit adjustible valve)... Everything else was an easy bolt-on with regular tools...
I was planning on running 4-wheel discs, so I chose a master cylinder for such... But I used it with rear drums with no problems.
The master cylinder to use is for a 67-76+ Corvette (I am sure there are others that will work as well)...
I had to run this spacers on my 17X9.5 Vintage Wheel Works wheels (the spokes rubbed the caliper)... Must run 17" wheels...

You could upgrade the brakes AND the handling at the same time with NO machining what-so-ever with our tall AFX spindles and steering arms.
Then you can have any C5/C6 Corvette brake system you want (AP racing 6 piston down to the new SSBC 4 piston setup) with a killer handling/reduced bumpsteer to match the brake swap.

Thanks guys.
I planned on buying the kore3 bracket kit with the brake line so I don't have to hunt around for the right fittings.
I just don't want to spend $300 for a billet hub and I saw that engineered velocity has them for $155 but if I can save money on this that would be awesome.
The thing that I am worried about is if my 17x8 torq thrust are gonna fit.
With your swap didn't you have machine down the upper bolt hole for the brackets or do you not have to do this with c5 caliper brackets?

If you want your TTII's to fit, you need a C5/C4 hybrid setup. C5 calipers, C4 rotors. www.touring-classics.com The all C5 setup woun't clear TTII's. The baracket's I used were from Speedtech (69 Camaro). Should work on a Chevelle, but check first. http://www.speedtech-performance.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=51/category_id=217/home_id=123/mode=prod/prd51.htm
