Yes, Those are awesome hamrdown I want!

Check this guy out on Ebay. He sells some pretty nice old school looking BBC valve covers. I've emailed him about making some that say 496 but he hasn't replyied. Hes has made some that say 502. These are neat.

$$450$$

I went with the cast one's for $275, $450 for the polished was a bit picey for me.
After getting them I decided to polish them out because the cast finish was too white looking and the surface was rougher than I liked.
They are very thick aluminum and are a quality piece.
I chose them because they look like a stock valve cover and you very rarely see them.

One of the regulars at a local cruise night has a large rectangle cut out of the top of each cover with a clear plexiglas insert so that the valve train is visible. I wouldn't consider calling them the fanciest, but certainly the most unique. What's interesting is that the plexi stays oil free and remains nice and clear.

Check the sig under "The Soul". They were a huge PITA to get on because they don't come with any holes, but boy are they worth it.

Did you move the heater fitting in the intake manifold for the short pump set up?. My intake wasn't tapped there but had the perfect boss cast in.

They are CalCustoms. They may look different because they are shiny! I was tired of looking over old beat up sets so I held out for a brand new set that had never been used. It about broke my heart to knock out one of the plugs to install the crankcase breather system.

I drilled and tapped the holes in my manifold for the heater hose and for the bypass hose fittings. I put them in the factory locations. The heater hose fitting is the one with the temporary rubber cap on it. Now that I think about it, one of the holes was already there, I only had to drill and tap one or the other.

Thanks Rich....I'm in the market for some covers to add the same crank case breather myself......Then on to the divorced choke.

An electric choke is so much easier to set up and much more reliable since it has no external moving parts to bind up or wear out.

I know Rich....but I'm hoping for a factory style look and have a factory 780. I guess the choke just needs to look good, as it never gets real cold here.
I'm hoping I can put something together that works.

i plan on building and LSX, and will probably go with some of these valve covers - the ones that hide the coil packs and then have some sort of custom engraving done on top of 'em :D expensive, i know, but i really like 'em...

I use rubber gaskets and havent had a problem with them leaking recently I just put them on also. I can get all but the bottom rears on both sides because of the AC box and the Brake booster. (have a stud broke off on the front that I have to try and get out)

Thanks Alwhite00,
I have been working hard on my 65 engine compartment. I have since hard lined just about all the lines on the engine. Still working on the air cleaner. Alot more modifications than I first thought to make it fit the Edelbrock carb. The air cleaner base will be matt black and the lid will match the front runner.

I purchased the value covers from Speedway motors. You can get them tall or short. Mine are the short ones. Thanks again -KD
