My 66 came with 61 amp alt & Transistorized Regulator ..... It does not seem to work and I would like to have it repaired / restored ........anyone know who can check one of these out ?? John Pirkle did my alt but does not do the Transsistorized reg . I'm on my third external reg ( points type and electronic ) not sure why maybe not compatible with the 61 alt . Help !!

Is your reg grounded to the rad support with a separate wire?

Ground wire ......... Thomas you are right on ........I'm embarassed to say just at noon to-day I stopped at a friends garage ( he has a 12 car collection ) and checked out his survivor 66 BB Impala ....... I do not have the ground wire from reg to screw on washer container bracket !!!!!!! as soon as I saw it I remembered my car had that ...... I assumed the ground wire from the frame to rad support was the only ground wire in that area ........ you can never take enough picures when you do a frame off !!!

This should cure my overcharge problem Thanks for the reply
