I'm getting ready to install headers and will upgrade my exhaust. Which would be better?
A. The Flowmaster American Thunder 2 1/2" Better materials
or
B. The Summit Header-Back Dual Exhaust Systems 3" 3" exhasut

Has anyone used the summit kit?
I know the flowmaster system is probably better materials and I like the sound of the flowmasters, but I was wanting 3" exhaust and the price is in the budget. The 3" flowmaster kit is not in the budget.

I would buy the flowmaster mufflers and have a 3" exhaust custom made at a muffler shop. If you're looking to do the job yourself, than maybe you can talk to Summit and they will sell you the pipes by theirselves.

flowmaster makes the kit in 3" also. I've seen the ad in Hemmings Muscle Machines

You can buy the Flowmaster 2.5" tailpipes and 3" headpipes from Pypes.

The Summit kit takes a LOT of cutting and welding to make it fit PROPERLY.. A search on "summit 3" exhaust" will pull up a ton of reading..

Good luck

I bought the Super 40 mufflers separately (from ebay cheaper and these were new) and then bought the fitted exhaust Flowmaster pipe kit for 64-67 A-body cars. I did have cutting to do but was way cheaper than buying the whole flowmaster kito.
