I have had zero problems with the stock shifter on my TKO600. Some say that there is a hugh difference between the stock one & an upgraded one. So what do you guys use and what was the improvement?

The stock shifter is the equivalent to a Hurst Billet Plus. With the F-body and mustang crowd, the Billet plus is middle of the road with the Pro 5.0 being the best. Some guys complain about the 2 to 3rd shift, but I never had an issue. I dont powershift either, so I'm not 100% sure if its an issue. But, I missed the 3-4th shift - went to 2nd and almost smashed my car. I need to make sure when going to 4th that the shifter goes absolutely straight back. Any kind of pull towards the driver will put the trans into 2nd. The threshold between 2nd and 4th is very,very fine. I'm wondering if the aftermarket shifters offer a more positive 4th engagement. 396-375 Jun 27th, 07, 5:34 AM Mine shifts like butter also! My only problem was 2nd to 3rd at first. Then I stopped trying to shift it like my Muncie and just slammed it forward! Problem solved!:thumbsup: I have a TKO 600 with MC Leod shifter and above is dead on if you shifted a Muncie for years you need to relearn how to shift ..........I also have gone 3 rd to 2nd when going for 4th !!! even withthe McLeod Cant use a Pro 5.0 since I need the offset shifter to work in my stock console ......will be trying different handle to see if I can get a more naturel straight shift for a TKO | ||
