Hi All, have a general question...I just installed a flowmaster exhaust on my 66 Chevelle:) and have a question about routing the rear pipes that go over the rearend. It seems that the end of the pipes where it attaches to the exit pipe rubs against the gastank.....is this a cause for alarm? Will it hurt anything or be a fire hazard? Any info. would be great....thanks!!!

Yes, that's a problem. If it rubs it will eventaully wear a hole in the tank or the pipe. It will also rattle but you might not be able to hear it with flowmasters. 8^)

Is it rubbing against the tank or the tank flange that hangs out past the tank?

Thank you both for the replies! I cant remember (isnt that sad!) but I beleive it is rubbing against the actual tank and not the flange. I may need to cut more of the pipe that goes over the rearend some so that it doesnt touch it. Thanks!

If it is the flange, just bend it up or down. If it's the pipe hitting the tank it might be time for the clearance hammer

I had problems (still do actually) w/pypes 3" tails in the same area you are describing. This after my massaging:

Exactly...I bought the Super 40 mufflers separately then bought the fitted exhaust Flowmaster pipe kit for 64-67 A-body cars...yea right...I did a ton of cutting to get it to fit and now I have more to do.
