Alright, I bought a richmond 5 spd and in order to put it in I had to modify the crossmember and in order to get the crossmember out I had to disconnect the header from the exhaust. I bought new gaskets that are bigger than the old ones but the collectors are pretty warped and still dont seal well (its pretty fumey inside the car). Is there anything I can do short of new headers. Will doubling up on the gaskets work or will that make it worse. Thanks

I've seen guys put a bead of weld on the flange and use a flat file to make a better face so it will seal better. It all depends how bad the flange is
This may sound crazy, but I used my gaskets and a thick bead of RTV high temptrature silicone; just like you would use to seal your intake manifold. Works great far, no leakes. I agree w/ above post though, depends on just how badly they are warped.

My step dad works on sprint car motors and he told me that if I couldnt get rid of the exhaust leak to cut the header flange in between each cylinder that way you could tighten each one down seperatly if the flange is warped.

here is what some of the guys are using and claim it works
take a straight edge and lay it across the col., if the section where the bolts go thru is bent, you might be able to tap it back a little and gey it straighter
