: Clutch Pivot - Block side (what threads?)
Neal Wright Jun 24th, 07, 11:03 AM Couple questions here ... I've got my Gen6 block on the engine stand. I'm looking at about a 1" diameter cast boss, and am pretty sure that's where the hole for the pivot ball should go.
If I remember right, the threads should be 5/8-11 (NC) ... right? And, about how deep?
I still need a block side pivot ... Are those still available through GM, if so anybody know the part number? Or, are they only available through NPD, Ground Up, etc?
Thanks, Neal
Neal Wright Jun 24th, 07, 3:53 PM So, anybody know the GM part number by chance? I've been trying the search function all afternoon, and kind people mentioning it's still made by GM ... but no part number.
Hey, thanks.
Neal
Neal Wright Jun 25th, 07, 6:23 AM Come on guys, this is killing me ... anyone know the thread size, or what the GM part number is?
Thanks again, Neal

Neal Wright Jun 25th, 07, 7:43 AM That is awesome! Thanks, I'll call my dealership today.
Why did you say 2pk ... the frame side pivot isn't the same, is it? By chance, while I'm thinking of it ... does anybody know the frame side pivot p/n? Or, any of the other clutch linkage I can still get from GM?
Thanks, Neal
befair Jun 25th, 07, 8:18 AM The frame side pivot:
GM PART # 3935289
PACK QTY: 1
GM LIST: $10.50
Pricing info is from GM Parts Direct.
'PACK QTY' is how the part is 'sold' or delivered to the dealership from GM.....i.e. the block side pivot is delivered in a package of 2, the frame side in a package of one.
The complete linkage set up is available from most vendors, including the site sponsor - GROUND UP, just search their site for clutch linkage.
tedixon Jun 25th, 07, 11:58 AM The hole in the block should already be threaded. Are you sure you are looking at the right hole. The right hole is the one directly over the oil filter. I don't know what thread size to use. Once you get the part, you can match it at the hardware store.
Neal Wright Jun 25th, 07, 1:24 PM 400SB are commonly not threaded.
I have a Gen6 BBC which are only threaded on crate engines ... mine is a production block. The casting boss is there though.
I might be wrong, I think I found information the correct hole is 1/2"-13 though.
Thanks, Neal
befair Jun 25th, 07, 1:38 PM Neal,
You're correct......it is 1/2"x13 tpi.
Hi-po SS 454 Jun 25th, 07, 11:39 PM Also you can get the GM ball studs from OPG or Ground up.
