Sorry I must have hit the wrong key. I have my 327
on a stand ready to disassemble. I can't get the
distributor out. I have removed the clamp and bolt but the thing would move but about 1/4 " and gets
tight. Do I need to hammer it out?

Use the wood handle of the hammer to tap it out. Don't hit it too hard or it might break the distributor. I have tapped many out. It seems that over the years the engine builds up some "sludge" on some internal surfaces. Just be careful not to break anything.

Also try some carb cleaner on it if you can get it to move up a bit. this will dissolve the sludge.

All of the above as you rotate it in the hole. Must have been installed back in the '20s.
