: Exhaust shop recommendations in LA, Valley or South Bay Area
wes migletz Aug 5th, 04, 11:56 AM I'm looking for a good exhaust shop in the LA area; having a mandrel bender would be a big plus. If the shop has Saturday hours, I'm open to anything in the greater L.A. area, if not, I'd prefer something in the Torrance/South Bay area. Your recommendations/experiences would be appreciated. TIA
I don't have any experiance with muffler shops...I've been going to one, and it's called "Atlantic Muffler" waaaay over here in East L.A. It's on Atlantic just passing Olympic Blvd., but before Telegraph. From what I know, I don't believe they have anything to make any mandrel bends. I had them make me an "X-pipe" which came out decent, but when I went under the car a couple days later, I found a creases in the work. It pissed me off, but I figured I shoulda known better. What they can do is order you a mandrel bent piece then put everything together. But, I'm thinking you can most likely do that in any muffler shop, and one a lot closer to you. If anything, maybe you'd be better off ordering/buying the mandrel pieces you want, then taking them to a muffler shop and having them put everything together. It may come out slightly cheaper. Good Luck!!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Try Huth mufflers on Ventura Blvd. They've been there forever and they're very nice and they will do any kind of custom work you want.
Lance
I don't go anywhere else.
Correction.... I guess the rent on Ventura got a little high

71Sprint Aug 5th, 04, 5:08 PM I'm not sure if they have a bender (in fact I'm pretty sure they don't) but DMC in Pomona(on arrow right by the fairplex)has done good work for me and my frineds and if you ask nice and give em a six pack to enjoy while their working their prices have been known to drop.

I wish I woulda knew that when I had them install my Spin Techs graemlins/clonk.gif Instead I kept going to them about a half hour or so before they closed. I was getting out of work at 4pm, then the drive from L.A. to Pomona in traffic.....FORGET IT!!!! Anway, a bunch of good guys there...not sure about a mandrel bender tho, but good work....I almost forgot about them graemlins/clonk.gif

wes migletz Aug 6th, 04, 11:48 AM Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll look into Huth and Morse, because they're not too far from my house. I'll be doing systems both my '65 Malibu and my '59.
I also have a friend in the Torrance/South Bay area. He's building a '34 Ford and has his rolling chassis ready to go, and a stainless system from Borla. He's looking for a shop that can weld the system and maybe tweak a few pipes for him. Any recommendations for shops in this area would be appreciated. Thanks again, Wes
CarlC Aug 6th, 04, 12:05 PM Wes,
If you go to Morse ask for Tim. He does very nice work. They do not have a mandrel bender, he would have to piece it together. Morse is in Burbank, on Burbank Blvd. just west of Victory.
I wish it wasn't so far away or I'd give this guy a try:

wes migletz Aug 7th, 04, 12:15 AM Carl, thanks for the recommendation and for the link. The shop has an interesting site, and it looked llike they'd do a mandrel bent dual for $400/up. Unfortunately, they're in Bakersfield.
Can anyone make a recommendation for a shop in the Torrance/South Bay area? Thanks again, Wes
