as I understand it it has all the papers except a build sheet..1972 Chevelle SS .. has the u code in the vin number has pb/ac/ps..looks like a nice car..about 7 hours from me..I have been looking for a SS car with in my price means.....I know with out photo's it is hard to put a value on it.....how would a person handle this sale..? I have never bought a car like this before .. maybe a deposit until I could get there to see the car? have someone go with me who knows the SS cars?..thanks for any advice..What is a fair price??

How about posting a link to the Auction. It would be much easer to get good advice if we could see it.
If its a solid car, I'd say that's a fair price.

Edit: Is this the car? If so, It is a very fair price if the other engine is included!!

here is the vin number 1D37U2R514082 does the U mean SS big block?

The letter U indicates a 402 big block, but that engine was also available in non-SS models, so by itself it does not positively indicate an SS. But that car has so much other paperwork that I doubt the guy is lying about it. The seller clearly states it needs restoration and has a poor paint job, so it could be a real project. If you're really and truly interested you should be on your way there to check it out.

Well the reserve is not met yet so hard to tell how it'll go. Was there a Buy It Now before the bids started? Oh I guess not or it would still be there since the reserve is not met. Looks like a great car to start with.

I wouldn't post the link if I was thinking about getting it, you know how many people browse thru this site?! Not just members.
