There’s a lot going on at American Autowire. Here’s a rundown of the latest news. (some may pertain to you, some may not - but we wanted to pass along all of the news)

New product #1
Ford Ignition Switch (http://www.americanautowire.com/Ignition_Switches.html)
This switch is a universal 4-position switch that uses Ford style keys that all Ford drivers want. It includes a retaining nut and authentic looking Ford Type chrome bezel as well as terminals. Part # 500927 retail $39.00.
New Product #2
Kit Car Electrical System (http://www.americanautowire.com/ProductNews/0846E60C-D9CE-47E7-8E02-D48BD6E6A425.html)
Our new Kit Car Electrical System is a comprehensive kit that is geared towards builders of kit cars that use fiberglass bodies and are tailored towards Cobras.

At the heart of the kit is our venerable Highway 15 fuse panel to facilitate all of your power distribution. This modular style panel features a small footprint and a one-sided loading method that is often necessary for dealing with tight kit car compartments. From there we have modified the sub-assemblies of the standard Highway 15 kit to provide greater flexibility in switch selection but have also included our dash mounted turn signal switch, hazard switch and headlight switches that are the most popular with our kit car customers. Since most kit cars utilize fiberglass bodies, we have included our All Copper Grounding Kit ($140 value) to ensure a reliable and gremlin free complete copper electrical circuit. The kit also includes a Ford style ignition switch, a Ford 3G alternator adapter harness, and 5/32” dash indicator LED’s. This kit is a must have for anyone serious about building a high quality kit car. As with all of American Autowire’s kits the Kit Car Electrical System comes with complete easy to follow color instructions and schematics. Part # 500948 retail $599.00.

Also available is the Kit Car Electrical System for GM based kit cars. This kit includes everything in the 500948 mentioned above but exchanges a Ford ignition switch for a GM style ignition switch and doesn’t include the 3G Ford alternator harness. Part #500976 retail $579.00

Sign me up for my 66!!:hurray:

What's the part number going to be for the 64-67 harness and what are we looking at as far as price? I might have to collect some more bottles and cans.

Hi.

I wasn't getting emails that there were additional posts in this thread. I accidentally had an incorrect email address in my profile. (Thank you Al for bringing it to my attention) So please excuse my delay in replying to your posts.

gmorris: There is a plan for a 68-72 classic update kit, but it'll be after the release of this one that's due out soon. So, I'd venture a guess at November(ish) I'll post here again once R&D gives me another update progress report.

sixredsoxfans: the part # will be 500981, but it's not set up in the system to receive advance orders. The price will be $529 (but that's retail). There's plenty of time to empty some more bottles. ; )

JJ67SS: They just have a few more things to button up in order to complete the project. It'll be worth the wait. In the meantime, you can help sixredsoxfans empty some bottles. ; )

Thanks for all your questions and again, sorry for the delay in response.

Just installed a taillight harness in a 72 and ran into a major problem with it. Seems that everyone who looks at it wants to leave with it because it is so nice. Thumbs up AAW for a quality product that meets and exceeds my expectations.

I hop I'm not hijacking this thread but I have a question. My 1965 turn signal switch connector has different colors than the color specified in the instructions.

My turn signal wire colors are as followed:
Green
Lime / Black
Blue
Black / White
Blue / Black
Purple
Black
Grey

The instructions say that I should have:
White
Dark Green
Yellow
Purple
Brown
Dark Blue
Light Blue
Black

How do I match these 2 color schemes up? Here is a picture of my wire harness.

Did You (American Autowire) release 68-72 classic update kit?

I want to reiterate my thanks to AAW for the quality of their products.
I just finished installing one of their 55-57 Chevy update kits (the 6th one, along with other vehicles). It's getting to where I can do a shoebox Chevy blindfolded. :D
The customer had originally purchased a kit form a well known competitor and the quality difference was apparent, at least to me. I persuaded him to return his original purchase and order from AAW.
The competing product certainly wasn't "junk" by any estimation. They are similar, but the look and feel of the AAW product, along with their excellent documentation makes AAW MY preferred supplier of vintage replacement wiring. Keep it up AAW!!

I have no connection to AAW other than being a very satisfied customer. AAW has not solicited me in any way to provide a positive review of their products (but one free wiring kit would be appreciated for all of the good PR I've spread around, wink wink, nudge nudge). Maybe for my 66 Ford Galaxie 7 litre, please!! :D:D

(Yea, I know the reasons why you can't do that one ;) )

Thanks Again AAW,

I just want to to say thank you to AAW. they ansered my question over the phone and they answered it with precision. the customer service / tech support is A+. Too bad thay are not open at 1 AM when I'm doing my best work on the Chevelle. JK!

Anyways, I got their Chevelle upgrade kit and the quality is like the the old American way. Superior wire, heavyduty terminals, clearly marked wired, etc. I noticed my heater blows more air, my cigarette lighter lights up faster and my starter ignition switch system is not flakey anymore. It cured all my electrical mysteries.

You state in post 10 of this thread that AAW is planning on releasing a classic update kit for 68-72 chevelle(november'ish); not to be a smart ass but what year'ish were you thinking? 2 Novembers have come and gone since July 07.
