: Secondary float sticking on hard throttle?

It seems that when i really romp on it, something is happening in the secondaries causing fuel to trickle out of the bowl into the throttle bore. When i pull the float level plug out, gas pours out like the bowl is way overfull. Seems like the float is stuck doesn't it? Could it be something else? Should I pull the secondary bowl off and clean out the needle and seat and of that? Is there a way to avoid this? is there a better internal component I can add?

What's the fuel level in the rear bowl when your are normally driving, not having romped on it? Yes, it would be a good idea to clean or replace the needle/seat/. As a matter of discussion the 4160 style side hung float won't react to forward acceleration. Having said that though, I wouldn't switch out the carb because the center hung floats before fine where they are functioning correctly.

I've got no issues with the rear bowl level normally. Are you saying that the center hung floats can (and do) get hung up like this regularly? Can I hang a side-hung float in this carb? Could this also be a function of the needle not reseating fully? If so, is there a better assembly I can replace it with that will seat more reliably? I've got a big canister fuel filter on it way back at the tank and the element is almost new. I can't imagine it's junk in the carb...but anything is possible. Maybe i'll add a smaller in-line filter near the carb as well.

I'm not saying center hung floats get hung up. As a "bench racing" discussion, guys will debate the merits of center versus side. Other carbs, Eddelbrock/Carter, Q-jet, etc. have only center hung. Yes, you can switch, but you need to change bowls too, and probably fuel inlets -- so it's not worth the bother.

I'd probably throw another needle/seat considering everything else is new, and forgo the secondary filter.

I am wondering about Holley's new needle and seat sets. My 3310 came back from reworking at my carb shop and secondary needle and seat hung up 3 times got another new needle and seat it hung up on me again 2 nights ago about 3 months since replacement primary no problems they use the same parts. mech pump 7 psi. I don't know.

Pull that rear bowl and take a look ASAP - you dont want your car to catch on fire!!!

Couple of things:

You may have corrosion in the carb, which seems to be a problem now with today's fuels. Could be jaming up the needle/seat

Float may be leaking abit.

There is also suppose to be a little spring on the float which helps pull the float up and shut the needle seat.

Also - your fuel pressure is OK right?
