Someone posted this on the 78-87 G-Body malibu forums and I had to share it with you guys also. But it may have been posted here before though.
I didnt realize that those engines could flex that bad. Im not sure, but its a Ford V8 of some kind (4.6 maybee?). Appears that the guy races it.

That's why us Ford boys building high horse motors keep companies like Dart in buisness! :D My buddies have cracked 2 of em' its common place on the 5.0 blocks, too much nitrous, or too much boost and KABOOOOM. Puff of white and a nice lil' crack. The block is literally held together by the maincaps when it happens.

Looks like the beginning or ending of a really bad day regardless.

Chris R. Definately NOT a 4.6!
The 4.6 or 5.4 liter Ford is a good engine. Only problem with the 4.6 is that it's a little teeny (281 cubic inches). Never blown one up yet - and we try :D

Well the production 302 blocks aren't the toughest and you can have trouble above 500hp (easy to do with a blower/turbo/nitrous).
However the 351 Windsor blocks are much tougher and will usually support up to 800hp or so depending on the year. Of course there are always the Motorsport A or R blocks, Sportsman blocks etc which are reasonably priced.

That is a late model 5.0 one piece seal block. I have a friend with a YS trim blown 5.0 that runs low 10's and has split two stock blocks the exact same way after leaning out. The first was a stock rotating assembly with over 70,000 street miles and about 250 1/4 mile passes. I have to say that it definitely took a pounding and the pistons and crank are in another street motor now. graemlins/beers.gif Still a little blue oval blood in me I guess.
