My dad is looking into getting a set of heads. he was looking at a set of rpm edel. heads, oval port, 110 chambers. motor is a 468. his pistons are suppossed to give a 11 to one with a 110 chamber heads. He wants to stay away from closed chamber heads because of shrouding the valve. this is going into a race car.he has an rpm intake, and a victor. previous combo:
The car is an 84 Z 28,

>Msd ingnition 6Al,
>3000 Stall, 10 in.
>4.11 gears
>28*10.5 slicks 12 lbs
>3000 lbs car, strip only
best paa to date is:
60ft: 1.41
1/8: 6.69 @ 103.3
1/4: 10.50 @ 128.8

He is looking into a couple of different cams. he is also going to a 29" x 10 slick, and is currently back halfing his car, and putting a new front suspension in. He intends to stay around 6500-6800 rpm, definately under 7000. He is looking for a head that will yeild a similiar compression ratio, and is decently priced. the iron or alluminum. Any suggestion guys?

Might want to check with Edelbrock and GMPP, but I think he may have a problem with those pistons and their heads - they have a funny shaped chamber and there's not much out there that fits without some massaging. I do know that SRP makes two different lines of pistons for them, one at about 10:1 or so and the other over 12:1. HTH

With the big valves, and if he has a good port and bowl blend job on the current iron ovals he may not see much gain in the head area, especially if he is content on spinning it around 6500. All depends on how much work his have seen. With the current heads how about a good solid roller cam. Maybe the Comp xtreme energy 280R or 286R. I betcha one of those cams would wake it up big time. Oh BTW a bunch more converter should be in the plans as well. An 8" with around 4500 stall for a strip only ride with one of those above mentioned cams would definitely be another wise choice.

From the research I've done, I agree with the other guy's. You'll probably need to go to one of the 119cc heads to improve on your current combo.
Like AFR's new ones.
A mid 280 lunati solid roller could be worth 60-100hp over your current cam. I think UDH said 620-640 hp with the 287/295...
About the same cost as the E heads. And probably more HP than you'd get from any set of heads alone.
