Guys I am running Autolite 3924 in my 195 AFR headed 383. Is this even close?? I think it might need a slight hotter plug?? It has even on occassion fouled a plug. These plugs are runnin black.. If I clean the plugs and replace then it runs fine but idle really hurts it...

So how about a plug rec for straters...

I don't know that number. I use to run Autolite 26's and they worked fine. I now run NGK UR5's in my driver and UR6's in the bracket car. (NGK's heat range number go the other direction than most plugs. A lower number is a hotter plug.) Look at a heat range chart and get one one step hotter. You could be too rich.

That's the same plug my Canfields recommended. If you want to go hotter you need to go up in the #'s.

My 355 runs fine on the 3923 actually, it will depend somewhay on your combo too.

Or AC FR3LS, or AC RapidFire 5.

My friend in his 383 has been running the 3923 with the same afr 195 heads/383 and fouls them VERY easy. If your tune is dialed and you use n20 use the 3923/3924 Otherwise get the 3924/3925

What's your gap at? And how's your idle tune?

I gapped them at 35 and the car idles at 1000rpm and at about 700 in gear...

I am leaning toward the NGK UR5's local parts store has them in stock so thought I might try them.. What should I gap these at?? I am runnin a road deamon 725cfm.. 76frt 78 rear
Idle mixture screws about 1 1/4 turn out in frt and about 1 turn out in rear

make sure you get the long 3/4 reach... I think you want the fr5 or fr4... lower the number in NGK the hotter it gets.

Hey Brian! Haven't heard from you in a while! Aren't you running an MSD ignition with that car? If so your gap is to narrow, with your compression you should be around .050 or so on the gap. The 3924's are a good plug I run those in my heads and they're gapped at .050, no problems. Later!

Hey Brad, No MSD here got the mallory HEI here. Seems this new engine is running too rich and fouling plugs. One prob might be is it wont run over 165-170 on temp now with new fan and 2- 3/16 hole in thermostat, I think it needs to run hotter to burn the fuel better.

Also gonna go with stock #7938 NGK plugs...

Mallory recommends using the stock gap. I have a Mallory C9000 and gap at .040".
