I was just given a set of 14092359 "Hi-Perf" heads as a christmas present....They have a fresh valve job (not 3 angle or anything) and the combustion chambers look really small, yet everywhere I look it says they're "366T,427T 86-89 2.06/1.77 Open chamber Oval port" They definately look smaller than 119cc.
Does anyone know about these? What should I do with them ? Are they worth using on a performance engine?

I glass beaded a set of BBC heads with the 148 Truck casting on. They were truck heads as well. The intake port size was approx 1 11-16 wide so they were not the peanut port they were about the same size as 781's. The chambers were smaller than 781's and were a almost a semi-closed chamber. I don't know the intake runner size off hand or the cc's of the combustion chamber. You chould check those by use of the cc test.
If I had them I would use them. They would be better than the 236 peanut port heads if they indeed have the larger intake ports. With the smaller combustion chamber they would probably have decent compression. You didn't mention the valve size but I would increase that as well.
The BBC heads flow very good as a group so you really can't go wrong. One of the reason was the valve placement was second place to the path of the intake and exhaust runners.

Hey thanks alot, nice to see all these fellow canadians on this board. :D I'm gonna use 'em even though they only have the small 2.07" valve set. I'll just port them and maybe get a 3 angle cut done since most people swear by it.
By the looks of things I'm also going to have to get the spring seat machined to accept my Comp 924-16 double springs.
I have another quick question, When you remove the valve from the head..under the spring and sitting ontop of the valve guide is a round "bearing looking thing" what in the world is it ? I've never seen that before?

Haven't heard of those either. You aren't refering to the "locks"? Hopefully next Sat I will be taking apart a set of 781's and I will let you know.

The "bearing looking thing" is probably a the PC type valve seals with a metal band. The valve seats will not require machining for anything up to a 1.540" diamter spring. The Comp 924 is only 1.510" dia. The main thing to machine is the valve guide to accept the smaller diameter PC type seals. Yours are already done.

I think that they're "valve rotators" does this make sense? If they are, I know comp sells "rotator eliminators".
Thats great to hear that no machining will be required smile.gif Can you usually re-use the retainers from the stock diameter springs??? or are the 924's too big for those stock retainers?
