Hey guys...I have a 64 Malibu and want to paint it Ash Gold (a 68 color, I know!!)...anyone know what the paint formula is or where I can find it. I have a feeling the body shop isn't going to know how to mix this color up. Thanks.

You may want to ask BQSS396, He just painted his 68 that Ash Gold. Here is the thread http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180655

I'll check with my painter. I've got to call him and ask him something anyway.

That would be great, thanks. Also, did you use a single stage paint or a base coat/clear coat?? I'll be using a BC/CC so I'm not sure if that matters.

I tried him, but I'll have to try him after work. Mine is bc/cc also. He said it was the factory color is all I know now. I do know it matches perfectly with the paint under the trunk and on the dash and inside the doors on my car.

I just called my paint guy with the codes from above and he said he couldn't use them since they're not PPG or Dupont codes, I guess all he uses is PPG & Dupont. He said if I had a paint sample then he could take a picture of it and have the computer do a color match, but I don't have any samples!!!
BQSS396...I'm hoping your guy used PPG and can tell you the formula!
Any other ideas guys???

I've had three Chevelles painted in the past 4 years...never any problem cross referencing different paint manufacturer's products using the codes above.

My paint guy said he'd check to see what it is when he gets back home. He was out of town and is going back today.
