I have come across an ultradyne cam. 310/314r6 is engraved on the end. Is this the same as Lunati 501D3LUN, 310/314 ??? Thanks.

UltraDyne made well over 1000 of them, and it was the most popular 9-sec cam that I made for the SBC. If you had a 383 under 2000 lbs, it was an 8-sec cam.
They are the same, 279/283 at .050, .640"/.640" valve lift, .026"/.026" valve lash, 106 LSA. A minimum fuel system is 2 Holley 110s into a #8 line up to a Y-Block, and then 2 Holley regulators with #8s into the float bowls.
One Holley 110 sometimes cracks cylinder walls......

I ran it on a 2450 lb 383 and went 9.39 with 202 cc intake runners heads on alcohol. I only had one holley 200 gph w/ #6 feeding the larger holley regulator w/ 2 #8's feeding the carb. never had a problem. But never could get the motor to run right because of the heads. Switched to crane cams part # 19145. 260/266 at .050, .670"/.630" valve lift, .012"/.020" valve lash, 108 LSA. Still didn't run right, went to bigger heads, 227 cc intake runners. went 9.34 @ 142 on 112 octane gas. Question is do you think the 310/314 would work better or am i good w/ what i got???

2450 lb 385 acctually now. 227 cnc ported dart pro 1. glide, 1.76 first, 4.88 in rear, 5300 stall converter, 950 flowed to 980 4150 holley double pumper, trans brake, 32" tall tire, shift at 7400, going through at about 7600.

Replace the #6 with #10, or even #12, and see how much it picks up.
Alcohol requires 2 1/2 times the VOLUME of fuel as gasoline does for the same produced BHP. And I don't think #6 works even on gas.
Customers of UD who had 383s in some 2200 lb cars were going 9.10s on gas with the UD 310/314R6. A 310/314R6 in a 383 in a 1750 lb roadster(The Pink Panther) won Pro Comp at the last Sportsman Nats in the 1980s, running 8.70s and backing out a couple of times.......
That cam grind was one of our most dependable at UltraDyne.

Sorry i meant a 10 feeding the regulator. Its bigger than the 8's feeding the carb. Never had a fuel issue, O2 sensor always shows 12.8 to 13.2. So whats the difference in the two cams? It sounds like i would run the same et w/ both of them.

The UD 310/314 is 19* bigger on the intake at .050, and the exhaust is 17* bigger.
If they run the same, something is terribly wrong with your setup.

Never rand the UD310/314 w/ these heads. Just wanted to know if switching it would make me run faster. My info on cams is very limited. So what is your opion if im going 9.34 w/ the crane what would i run w/ the UD??
