Well,

I finally started getting engine parts back from the machinist this week (I was on vacation all week). Thursday I picked up the block and brought it home. The block had been vatted but still had quite a bit of paint on it. It took 3 cans of aerosal paint remover and 1 hour worth of pressure washing to get everything cleaned up good.

Yesterday I got the remainder of parts. They had just finished up the balance work and polishing the crank when I got there. In fact the crank was still warm to the touch.

Last night I started assembling the pistons. The pistons are Wiseco 4.280" bore, 48.4cc dome, 1.645" compression height, 1/16" ring package. Rods are 6.135 Crower Sportsman I-Beams, good to 850hp.

This morning I installed the oil rings and mic'ed the crank rod/main journals. I will be completing all the bearing measurements today and begin file fitting the rings this evening or in the morning. I hope to have the lower assembly completed early next week. The heads will be coming back next week sometime so I can build the top end. With any luck I'll have it on the dyno in the next two weeks :D

Darn, another guy getting all kinds of stuff done! I can't stand it anymore. I need a new machinist that works faster than a snail.
Keep up the good work Kenny. graemlins/thumbsup.gif I always enjoy following your performance updates. Very detail oriented and straight forward. No BS.

Thank everyone.

Jim, I can imagine how you feel. My machinist only had my stuff for three weeks and I was pacing the floor :D

Bob,

Same as before, 460ci. This block will (hopefully) be with me for many more years. The only thing larger this time is the compression and cam smile.gif The pistons are .003 in the hole. Compression will be 12.48:1, so not too high but enough to make some decent power.
