I know, I know...look it up in my rulebook. It's still in the mail.

The reason I ask is because I pulled my inner fenders out when I pulled the motor last weekend, and then promptly ran over one of them with my truck.

Anyway. I was thinking I should run them anyways, even if they're not required.

I'm such an idiot! graemlins/angry.gif

I don't think there's a rule saying you have to have them. It sure makes a mess of the engine compartment if you get caught out in the rain though. I have mine installed.

That's what I was thinking, too. I'll be trailering, since I'm a wus...The other thing I was thinking is the leading edge of the fender well is tied in with the inner fender for support, and would flop around quite a bit with a fat lopey cam in it.

Is your project going to be strip only?

Yup...I'm going to keep the headlights, tail lights in it, but that's just in case I want to make a run on the local cruise-in once in a while. There's no law here covering inner fenders, just that the vehicle has to have fenders.

Sean,
There are no NHRA rules that require you to have inner fenders. You will be fine.

Niether my friends 10 second truck or 9 second Camaro have inner fenders so I assume it's legal.

Both have been inspected many times at the track and nothing has been said about either one.......

Oh and for the record no rule in the NHRA book but many classes require it as part of their rules.

A few picks of how the motor used to look before going to a relocated alt, electric water pump, and converting to manual steering (still seeking a box/arm), interior/cage, and the modified 69 dash (yes I know my car is a 68 300 deluxe) can be seen here till our forums go down for an upgrade friday:

Leave them out Sean. Most get removed on drag cars for weight savings. So do you really believe you'll drive the bu on the street to a cruise when its raining? I doubt it. Plus it's only a bit of road grime it'll clean up....
